Solar PV for New Self-Storage & Warehouse Units
Jelmac Properties, a property developer with a diverse portfolio of offices, warehouses, and industrial units, recently expanded into the self-storage market with purpose-built facilities at their Grantham site.
With sustainability a core part of their strategy, Jelmac are committed to reducing carbon emissions across both new and existing properties. As part of this approach, Step Energy were appointed to design and install solar PV systems to support clean energy generation at the new self-storage and warehouse units.

Step Energy Scope of Works
- Building 1 (Warehouse Unit):
- 96 x 415W roof-mounted PV panels
- 2 x 20kW inverters
- System Size: 40 kWp
- Annual Generation: 34,700 kWh
- Carbon Savings: 6.43 tonnes CO₂ per year (equivalent to planting 295 trees)
- Building 2 (Spec Unit):
- 64 x 415W roof-mounted PV panels
- 1 x 25kW inverter
- System Size: 26.5 kWp
- Annual Generation: 28,080 kWh
- Carbon Savings: 4.4 tonnes CO₂ per year (equivalent to planting 202 trees)
Outcomes & Benefits
Total System Capacity: 66.5 kWp across two new buildings
Combined Renewable Generation: Over 62,700 kWh annually
Carbon Savings: More than 10.8 tonnes CO₂ avoided per year, the equivalent of 497 trees planted
Future-Proof Design: Integrated during construction to avoid costly retrofit
Tenant & Owner Value: Reduced operational energy costs and enhanced sustainability credentials
