Ridge has been in discussion with Step Energy since their conception with a view to partnering to offer clients a turnkey energy reduction service. With our design knowledge and Step Energy’s experience in available renewable technology and installation it offers a complete package to clients wishing to review their existing energy usage and options to look for meaningful reduction measures. Also, with Step Energy’s extensive knowledge and experience they have offered great assistance in assessing the needs of our clients. The proposals have been clear, concise and honest when it comes to the scale and potential benefits. They’ve been a pleasure to work with. Looking forward to continuing to grow the relationships and get more projects off the ground.

“It has been a pleasure for Southgate & Sarabia Architects to work with Stepnell as Main Contractor on the Health & Wellbeing Hub at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. The team from start to finish were great to work with, taking a proactive approach on the design and build of the project.

The team pushed for sustainability, which was really refreshing for a contractor to be so passionate about sustainability. It was great for the team to work in a collaborative way, getting involved with events outside the project, which was an opportunity for the teams to work together for a good cause.

I think the thing that stands out for me working with Stepnell is their focus on social value and how they go above and beyond to help and support their local and regional communities. I was fortunate to support Stepnell at an event at Nottingham’s Girls Academy, where we engaged with 150 young girls to get them interested in the construction industry.

We would have no problem recommending Stepnell to any of our clients and we would be delighted to work with Stepnell again soon.”

Kane was a very good site manager, working on a particularly unpleasant site. He communicated well with local residents, and completed the work earlier than programmed. Communication was good throughout and all handover documents were sent to DCC shortly after completion. All applications for payment were made on time, and Stepnell supported DCC in issuing interim applications to help with our end of year financial cash flow.

“The University of Worcester has worked with Stepnell on a number of projects since they were appointed to our Medium Works Contractor Framework. This includes recently completing our fantastic new Elizabeth Garrett Anderson building on our Severn Campus. Stepnell has demonstrated it can work collaboratively and innovatively to deliver what the University believes will be an outstanding teaching facility for the future healthcare and medical professionals.”

“We worked with Stepnell on a multi-million pound project to upgrade our care home. They were very caring in their approach and mindful of our residents’ comfort. They updated us daily on progress and possible noise/disruption to ensure works were carried out at a time suitable to us. They managed the project very well considering we were a live care home in times of Covid outbreaks”.

Stepnell didn’t just tender the best value bid, it was the manner in which their bid was put together, as well as their experience of working in education.

At every stage of the process, Stepnell clearly worked as a professional team together with their subcontractors. They really did want the best for us the client, and therefore our students.

Stepnell tendered as main contractor for a large package of works under our Salix Public Sector Decarbonisation Programme. Despite significant external challenges brought on by the pandemic, global supply shortages and very tight funding requirements, the team at Stepnell have showed a willingness to work constructively and creatively with us to overcome these issues and deliver key elements of this complex project effectively. Their approach throughout has been extremely flexible, and accommodating, and their senior project management team have been very responsive to the project’s demands.

Creating buildings to support the performing arts is a genuine team effort. Stepnell understood this from the very start and it was the cornerstone of their approach. The team worked collaboratively and proactively throughout the construction process as we tackled the challenges of working in and around important historic buildings.

Working with Stepnell has been an excellent example of collaborative approach to design and construction where the designers and the contractor have worked in partnership to take a pro-active approach to problem solving and prevention. Stepnell has worked hard to maintain the original design intent and client’s vision for a social care building that provides outstanding facilities and care for an extremely vulnerable client group.
